This also comes from Contra Paganos by Maximus of Turin (p. 327, bottom paragraph). Pointing out contradictions in a way the pagans speak of their gods, Maximus wonders in what capacity Venus is placed by them in the sky and stars, a shameless woman alone among many men. Is she someone’s wife, or mother, or sister, or daughter?
