Hello, everybody. My question is what the abbreviation "s." in my title stands for. The source is a memorial brass in a church in Sussex, to the memory of a child whose father was a distinguished divine, Thomas Pye. The child died in 1542, so we are looking at Renaissance Latin here. Could it be some form of "sacer"?

Many thanks!
