Hello everyone. I was looking at this painting from 1620 and on top of it it reads: bonum est prestulari cum silentio salutare dei.
I guess Velazquez meant praestulari which means "to await". But that's not my problem. What I'm looking for is some etymology information about this verb. Where does it come from? pre- + stulari? praesto + l + are ? I'm really lost. If you could provide any information about it I would be very happy.
