I am here with this phrase from Ovid's Medicamina faciei femineae, verse 45: certus amor morum est. I've read two translations of this book and consulted Lewis & Short. One translation gives mos in this context as manners, the other as character. From Lewis & Short it seems like mos is more akin to custom, habit, way, manner etc and only secondarily as virtue in a more elevated sense.
